Ballaghaderreen Golf Club is a neat 9 hole course. It is a mature parkland course with mature tree plantations. It is a flat course so no big hills to climb and is only a 30 minute drive from Knock Airport.
The Golf Club was founded in 1936. The 18 hole length for men is 5339 Meters with 5 alternative tee's over the 18 holes. The Ladies course measures 4602 meters with 15 alternative tees over the 18 holes. There are many mature tree plantations dotted around the course so accuracy rather than distance play a vital role. Standard scratch for men is 68 and for ladies is 69.

| Ballaghaderreen is a small town in the west of Ireland. It is in west County Roscommon but very close to the borders of counties Sligo and Mayo. It has a population of roughly 1300. It is on the main N5 primary road which links Dublin to Castlebar and Westport.It is about 55 miles north of Galway city and 30 miles south of Sligo town. Immediately neighbouring towns include Boyle, Ballymote, Castlerea, Charlestown, Ballyhaunis.
Ballaghaderreen is the cathedral town for the Catholic diocese of Achonry.This diocese is the smallest in Ireland and includes parts of Counties Sligo, Mayo, and Roscommon. The current bishop is Bishop Thomas Flynn who resides about 2 miles outside the town.
The Gaelic name of the town is Bealach an Doirin which means "the wayof the little oak" and is often referred to by locals as "Ballagh".
